Legal Taxi Drivers from Other Provinces will be Allowed to Legally Work in Phuket

Phuket –

Legal taxi drivers from Bangkok and other provinces will be allowed to work legally in Phuket.

Our previous story:

Legal action is being taken against illegal taxi drivers in Phuket. Taxi drivers (Green Plates) from Bangkok were also found servicing in the area against rules and regulations.

Now for the update:

The Phuket Land Transport Office Chief Mr. Atcha Buajan told the Phuket Express after a meeting today (February 9th) with taxi drivers from other provinces (Green Plates) that rules would relax to allow them to legally work in Phuket.

The meeting came after yesterday (February 8th) taxi drivers (Green Plates) registered in Bangkok and other provinces gathered together at Saphan Hin in Phuket Town.

Mr. Atcha told the Phuket Express that there are many out of province taxi drivers who are assisting tourists in Phuket. They have been severely affected after the Phuket PLTO, or Phuket Land Transport Office, cracked down on them.

The Phuket PLTO has agreed to let these taxi drivers be allowed to legally provide services for customers in Phuket. However, they have to register to the Phuket PLTO within one month to state they are currently working in Phuket instead of their home province.
