73 Baby Sea Turtles Hatch and Head Back to Sea in Phang Nga

Phang Nga –

Seventy-three baby leatherback sea turtles have successfully hatched and headed into the sea in Phang Nga, north of Phuket.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) report that after midnight (February 2nd) 73 baby leatherback sea turtles successfully hatched from their eggs. The baby turtles then headed back to their home in the sea.

Twenty-five more of the baby turtles were taken back for treatment as they were still weak and unable to go return to the sea. Sixteen eggs have not hatched and five of the baby turtles died after hatching.
