A Myanmar national has gone missing after he was washed away from a rock by waves on Samui Island.

Witnesses told Thai PBS media that yesterday (January 30th) there were three Myanmar nationals who seemed to be intoxicated. They had gone down to a viewpoint area near the sea. Authorities had previously warned tourists not to get close to the sea due to strong winds and waves.

Suddenly, the witnesses heard someone shouting for help. A Myanmar national had been washed out into the sea by large waves. The other two Myanmar nationals later left the immediate area before authorities arrived, although it is unclear why. There were no reports of where they work or live.

Authorities were unable to conduct a full search yesterday because of strong wind and waves.
