Jet-Ski and Parasailing Operator Fined 60,000 Baht after Breaking Rules on Beach in Thalang

Thalang –

A jet-ski and parasail operator were fined 60,000 baht after breaking rules and operating on a protected beach in Thalang.

The Phuket Marine Office Chief Mr. Chayapong Pranit told the Phuket Express that they received complaints that a jet-ski and parasail operator were operating illegally on Surin Beach in Cherng Talay.

Surin Beach is a protected beach (White Beach Project) where marine activity businesses are banned. Those activities have annoyed beachgoers and swimmers and are not safe for them.

Mr. Chayapong told the Phuket Express yesterday (January 27th) that when officials inspected the beach five jet-skis were found on it. Those jet-skies are registered to be used only on the Bang Tao Beach in Cherng Talay and the jet-skis are being used in the wrong area for their licenses. The operator has been fined 10,000 Baht for each jet-ski, in total 50,000 Baht.

Mr. Chayapong also told the Phuket Express that they found that the operator used a boat for parasailing which was only permitted to be used at Kamala Beach, Kathu. The operator was also fined another 10,000 baht for using the boat in the wrong area in the license.
