Patong –
Relevant Phuket officials inspected homeless people and beggars in the Patong area this past week.
Officials from the Phuket Protection Center for the Destitute told the Phuket Express that they inspected homeless people and beggars near Patong Beach and the nearby area in a campaign from January 16th to January 20th with Patong Police and Patong Law Enforcement officers.
Eight homeless people were found which were four men, three women, and a young girl. Officials recorded personal information from them. Three of them were taken to the Phuket Protection Center for the Destitute, although as this was voluntary the others declined.
Homeless, especially from migrants, has increased in Phuket in recent years due to a variety of factors including the Covid pandemic, restrictions, and still returning tourism and job market.
