Whale Shark Spotted With Fishing Net Stuck in Tail in Krabi

Krabi –

A large whale shark was spotted with fishing net stuck at its tail at an island in Mueang Krabi.

A video clip from a tour boat near the Hong Island in the Than Bok Khorani National Park was posted on a Facebook page showing the incident. The massive whale shark, which is about six meters long, was swimming with its tail stuck with a fishing net. It was reported that its tail was injured from the net.

The head of the Than Bok Khorani National Park Mr. Weerasak Srisajjang told the Phuket Express that they have searched for the whale shark since yesterday (January 17th) after they were notified. Tour boat operators and divers are being informed to help search for the whale shark as well to safely remove the net.

If anyone sees the whale shark please call the national park 075 681 096 or directly contact Mr. Wanchai Sumongkol 088-449-7717.
