129 Leatherback Sea Turtle Eggs Found on Phang Nga Beach

Phang Nga –

A total of 129 leatherback sea turtle eggs have been found in a nest on a beach in Phang Nga, North of Phuket.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that on Monday (January 16th) they were notified from a local that a leatherback sea turtle mother laid eggs on the Bang Kwan Beach in Kok Kloi, Takua Thung.

The DMCR officials found in total 129 leatherback sea turtle eggs in the nest in which 117 are fertile eggs. The eggs have been relocated to a safe area nearby due to concern of damage from the weather.

A total of 190 Hawksbill sea turtle eggs have been found in a nest on a beach in Phang Nga, North of Phuket.
