Phang Nga-

Sixty-four baby leatherback sea turtles have successfully hatched and headed to the sea in Phang Nga, north of Phuket.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that a mother leatherback sea turtle laid in total 106 eggs on the Bang Khwan Beach in the Takua Thung district in November of last year.

Early yesterday morning (January 14th) 64 baby sea turtles hatched from their eggs. 37 of the eggs did not fully develop. One baby sea turtle died shortly after hatching. Four eggs are still waiting to be hatched.

The baby turtles were released back to their home in the sea.
