Thailand’s Department of Land Transport Warns of Online Driving License Scam

Phuket –

The Department of Land Transport Phuket Office has warned of what they call an online and illegal driving license scam.

The driving license service scam has gone viral in social media including Phuket ex-pat social media groups and in similar groups in Pattaya this week. TPN media notes the alleged scammers even tried to post the “offer” in TPN media owned groups, but were rejected.

The post states that a 100 percent legal driving license service is being offered with no need to go to the Land Transport Office by yourself, take an exam, test, or any qualification requirements. The alleged scam says they will do it all for you. A motorbike driving license is 2,000 baht and a car license is 3,000 baht.”

The Phuket Land Transport Office Chief Atcha Bualjan told the Phuket Express “The post is not real. We are not involved in this. That is a scam. We have filed a report to the Phuket City Police and are trying to find those responsible. Any license got through this process would be fake or you would lose money to scammers. No Department of Land Transport officer would ever accept a bribe to get a license with no qualifications or exam.”

The Phuket City Police told the Phuket Express they are investigating the incidents for further legal action.

This driving license scam is also still going viral in Pattaya social media, as seen below.
