Dolphin Washes Ashore and Later Passes Away on Phang Nga Beach

A dolphin was found stranded on a beach in Phang Nga and tragically later passed away.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express this week that they were notified of the death by staff at the Khao Lampi Hat Thaimueang National Park.

The dolphin, which was still alive, was washed up on to a Khao Lampi beach. DMCR staff tried to push the dolphin back into the sea but it later washed up on to the beach again deceased.

The dead dolphin was taken to the Phuket Marine Biological Center. The female striped dolphin was 217 centimeters long and weighed 70 kilograms. She was deemed to have died of natural causes.
