Heavy rain and strong wave warnings for Southern Thailand

Southern Thailand –

Heavy rain and strong waves are in store for southern Thailand and in the Gulf of Thailand from today (January 5th) until January 8th, 2023.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued their latest weather warning today (January 5th). Low pressure is covering near the Borneo Island around the lower part of the South China Sea. A Northeast Monsoon is prevailing over the Gulf and Southern Thailand and will strengthen.

The waves are up to four meters high in the Gulf and above 4 meters high in storm area. More rain and isolated heavy to very heavy rains are likely in the South

Affected areas are as followings:

On January 6th: Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat

From January 7th to January 8th: Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat.

People in the south should beware of heavy rain which can cause flash floods. All boats should proceed with caution and small boats should keep ashore.
