A Fourth Leatherback Sea Turtle Nest Containing 138 Eggs Has Been Found on a Beach in Phang Nga

A total of 138 leatherback sea turtle eggs have been found in a fourth nest on a beach in Phang Nga, North of Phuket.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that they were notified of sea turtle traces from a local resident at Khao Pi Lai Beach in Kok Kloi, Takua Thung district last week. They then launched a search for the nest.

Yesterday (December 18th) officials found the leatherback sea turtle nest containing a total 138 eggs with 116 of them being fertile eggs. The eggs have been relocated to a safe area nearby due to concern of damage from the weather.

A third leatherback sea turtle nest with eggs were found on a beach in Phang Nga.
