Overstaying German man and Thai woman arrested with gun, bullets, gun parts, gunpowder, and drugs in Patong

Patong –

An overstaying German and a Thai woman were arrested with a gun, bullets, parts of guns, gun powder, and drugs at a house in Patong.

The Patong Police Chief Colonel Sujin Nilbodee told the Phuket Express that Mrs. Rat, 44, from Ubon Ratchathani and Mr. Mateas, 39, a German national have been arrested at a house in Soi Khwan Yang in Patong yesterday (November 11th).

Their last names were not provided to the press.

Seized from them were a handgun, 16 bullets, parts of guns, 12.3 grams of gun powder, and 0.80 grams of crystal methamphetamine. They were taken to the Patong Police Station.

Colonel Sujin told the Phuket Express that the arrest came after police were notified that the German man sent a picture of a gun over a LINE application to threaten someone. That unidentified individual then reported the threat to police.

Mr. Mateas told police that he has been living together with his “wife” for ten years but did not have a legal marriage. He bought the gun from his Thai friend named Boy for 20,000 baht about four years ago but Boy has since passed away. He bought drugs from someone he claimed he did not know and did not know how to contact, which raised the suspicion of police.

Mr. Mateas and Mrs. Rat are facing charges of illegal possession for a firearm and ammunition and illegal possession of a Category 1 drug.

Mr. Mateas is facing additional charges with overstaying although police did not tell the press how long his overstay period was.
