UPDATE: Patong Road repair work continues

Patong, Phuket –

The Patong road temporary repair work has started which will take about two weeks.

Our previous stories:

A road leading to the Patong Hill in Phuket has started to collapse after a landslide.

Now for the update:

The Director of the Phuket Highway Department Mr. Yuttana Pitak told the Phuket Express, “The repair work has started today (October 26th) which will take about 14 days. The budget for the temporary repair work is about 4.9 million baht.”

The Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew told the Phuket Express, “We are trying to fix the road as soon as possible. We understand that this road is one of the main Phuket economic roads. Many people and business operators are suffering.”

The Phuket Express notes this is only a temporary fix and permanent road repairs are likely to take months.

Meanwhile a local road shortcut from Chalong to Patong will be renovated for road users.

Kathu officials are surveying another natural route from Kathu to Patong.
