UPDATE: Demolishment ordered for collapsed apartment in Rassada, Phuket

Rassada –

A demolishment has been ordered for a collapsed apartment in Samkong, Rassada.

Our previous story:

A 32-room apartment building in the Samkong area, Rassada sub-district, Mueang Phuket district collapsed. No deaths or major injuries were reported.

Now the update:

The Rassada Mayor Mr. Nakarin Yosangrat told the Phuket Express, “We have issued a legal document to the owner for the demolishment of the apartment. Normally we will give 30 days. The building is 100 percent destroyed which cannot be repaired.”

The Phuket Vice Governor Pichet Panapong told the Phuket Express, “The owner told us that there was water flowing down from the hill after heavy rain for many days before the collapse.”

It is unclear if the owner has insurance for the building or if Phuket will financially reimburse the owner for the legal order to demolish the structure.
