UPDATE: Road leading to Patong hill from Kathu temporarily closed

Patong –

A road leading to the Patong Hill from Kathu in Phuket is now being temporarily closed after it has started to collapse from a landslide.

Our previous story:

Motorists who are heading from Kathu to the Patong Hill reported the damage at 3:30 P.M. this afternoon (October 19th). On one side of the road, the land started to slide which has brought down the road side surface and the guard rail.

Now for an update:

The Patong Traffic Police reports the road is being temporarily closed near a curve at a water pump station in Kathu to the Suwan Khiri Wong temple in Patong which is about 500 meters.

Road users who want to go into Patong or leaving Patong can use the detour way.

  • From Patong to Karon to Kata to Chalong to Wichit to Phuket Town or
  • From Patong to Kamala to Cherng Talay in Thalang

These two ways will take one to two hours more time as they are much longer distances.
