Samui Island, Surat Thani –

Two French men who attacked a Thai man, putting him into a coma, that was caught on viral video, are now in jail at the Samui District Prison.

Our previous story:

Two men are facing charges of assaulting another person causing severe injury and drunk driving.

Now for the update:

Captain Sirichat Kamunee of the Bo Phut Police told the Phuket Express, “The two French men are now in jail at the Samui District Prison after the Samui Provincial Court has denied them bail.”

The Surat Thani Immigration Chief Colonel Supparuek Pankosol told the Phuket Express, “We are tracking the suspect’s background to see if they are conducting business illegally in Thailand. One of them has a 30-day tourist visa while the other is married with a Thai woman. Neither has a work permit or can adequately explain what they do for a living that would allow them to stay in Thailand and own a luxury Porsche.”

TPN notes that the viral video appears to only show one man, the driver of the Porsche, attack the victim. The second man, the passenger, was shirtless and appeared to only watch the incident without interfering. However, police have maintained that both men are responsible for the actions taken.

The Thai victim’s girlfriend claims he had only been admiring the Porsche when the two French men attacked him, with his girlfriend admitting he had followed the suspects for a short distance to get a better view of their car.

The victim himself remains in a coma in critical condition as of press time.
