Landslide causes traffic delays on major road in Phuket

Phuket –

A landslide on a major road in Phuket has caused significant traffic delays.

The landslide was found this morning (October 17th) on the Chalermprakiat Rama 9 Road (Bypass road).

Locals nearby told the Phuket Express that the land started to slide at the Nang Panturat Mountain in Rassada sub-district, Mueang Phuket district since 4:00 A.M. this morning as it was still raining with some water coming down from the hills next to the road. Their houses and workers shelters nearby were damaged from the landslide.

The Phuket Highway Office has cleaned up the road while the Phuket Traffic Police have assisted motorists. Locals nearby are worried of more landslides if the rain continues.

Meanwhile yesterday (October 16th) heavy rain for many hours has caused landslides in Kamala, Patong, and Kathu which also brought down power poles.
