Phuket –

An intoxicated armed man has been arrested after he was carrying a chicken while walking around all night on Coconut Island in Phuket, scaring local residents.

The Mueang Phuket District Chief Mr. Suwit Suriyawong was notified yesterday morning (October 8th) of the incident from the village headman of the Coconut Island in the Koh Kaew sub-district, Mueang Phuket district.

Officers and police went to the island which is about three kilometers from the land by a boat. The suspect, was who was later identified by police as Mr. Jaran, 37, was caught with two knives, a chicken, and undisclosed medicine from a hospital that requires a prescription that he did not have.

Jaran’s mother told police her son was mentally unstable which might be caused by using illegal drugs. He had been treated for his mental illness previously but sometimes did not take the proper medicine. Mr. Jaran was taken to the land and to a major hospital. His urine tested positive for illegal drugs although the exact drug was not identified by law enforcement.

Police also told local media that Mr. Jaran served time in jail before for attempted homicide.

It is unclear what happened to the chicken.
