UPDATE: Phuket Governor orders continued monitoring after tremor felt from earthquake on Sumatra Island

The Phuket Governor has ordered close monitoring after earthquakes were reported on Sumatra Island with tremors felt in Phuket but no damages were reported.

Our previous story:

An earthquake was reported in the morning on September 24th on Sumatra Island with tremors felt in Phuket, Phang Nga, and Songkhla. No damage was immediately reported.

The Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew immediatedly ordered local authorities to check on any damages. The initial assessment showed that no damage was reported in Phuket. Only one area reported tremors which was in Mueang Phuket district with some residents reporting slight tremors and shakes.

However, the Phuket Governor has ordered relevant authorities to keep close monitoring on the incident and inform residents and tourists to not panic.
