Tremors felt in Phuket, Phang Nga, and Songkhla after earthquake reports on Sumatra Island

Southern Thailand-

An earthquake was reported this morning (September 24th) on Sumatra Island with tremors felt in Phuket, Phang Nga, and Songkhla. No damage was immediately reported.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported at 4:33 A.M. of an earthquake on Sumatra Island in Indonesia at 03:52 A.M. at 6.2 Richters, 40 kilometers deep, and many aftershocks. The epicenter is 535 kilometers Southwest of Phuket.

Tremors felts in Southern Thailand were reported in

– Phang Nga residents could clearly feel shaking.

– In Sadao, Songkhla residents reported shaking on high floors of buildings.

– In Hat Yai, Songkhla, high rise buildings also reported tremors, swaying, and shaking.

– In Mueang Phuket district, Phuket some residents reported slight tremors and shakes.
