Phuket –
The TAT Phuket division is expecting to welcome 200,000 tourists which will generate 3.4 billion baht during the vegetarian festival.
The annual Phuket Vegetarian Festival was officially announced which will be held for nine days from September 26th to October 4th.
The Phuket Tourism Authority of Thailand (Phuket TAT) director Ms. Nantasiri Ronnasiri told the Phuket Express, “We are expecting about 100,000 Thai tourists and 80,000 foreign tourists who will visit Phuket during this upcoming vegetarian festival. The average number is at 200,000 tourists.”
“There will be 900 domestic flights and 500 international flights arriving in Phuket during the nine days of the festival. This will generate about 3.4 billion Baht.” Nantasiri concluded.
The estimate includes hotel, transportation, travel, and all other costs while about the island during the festival, according to TAT. This year will be the first full vegetarian festival without border closures or major Covid19 restrictions since 2019 due to the pandemic.
As a result, activities canceled or toned down during the past two years like parades, street dancing, food festivals open to the public, large scale ceremonies and events, and more would be returning and authorities were hoping these would bring large crowds of tourists.
