Samui Island, Surat Thani –

Two fishermen have been rescued after their boat was being hit by multiple large waves near Samui Island.

Two fishermen were reported missing at night earlier this week near Baan Tai Beach in the Koh Samui district.

Officials and local fishermen launched the search for about one hours before the two fishermen who are Mr. Aran Eakjcheewa, 70, and Mr. Manoo Sripaew, 50, were found alive and floating in the sea. They were safe but weak. They were both taken back to land.

Mr. Aran told The Phuket Express, “There was strong wind and waves while we were heading back to the shore. Our fishing boat was battling with waves 500 meters from the shore. The boat capsized whie we were waiting for help and then we floated in the sea, both of us being strong swimmers despite our age. Our fishermen friends who realised that we were not back on time returned to the area they last saw us before they found us.”

Aran and Manoo were very thankful for being rescued but both men stated that they would be back out at sea making a living as soon as they were recovered, stating the incident had not scared them off permanently from fishing.
