About ten dolphins spotted at Maya Bay in Krabi

Krabi –

About ten dolphins were spotted at Maya Bay in Krabi.

Bottlenose dolphins were spotted by the Hat Noppharat Thara – Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park staffs

in the south of the Maya Bay yesterday (September 9th).

The sighting excited social media because the bay (see below) is temporarily closed for environmental recovery. During the covid pandemic and lack of tourists due to border restrictions and closures the bay had a significant recovery of environmental resources.

As a result, even when open, swimming has now been banned at the bay and visits are strictly controlled. The bay is famous for being in the Leonardo Dicaprio movie The Beach.

The famous Maya Bay in Krabi is temporarily closed for two months for environmental recovery. The temporary two months closure is from August 1st to September 30th.
