A nine-year-old girl in Thalang has sustained severe hair loss after receiving a second Covid-19 vaccine two months ago and her family and the girl blame it on the vaccine.
Her mother, Mrs. Jeeranan, whose last name was withheld to protect the identity of the child, told the Phuket Express, “My daughter likes to play sports. She is healthy. About two months ago she received a second dose of a Covid -19 vaccine before her hair started to fallout. She was infected with Covid-19 after receiving the vaccine too.”
TPN notes that according to multiple leading Thai doctors like Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, Covid-19 vaccines don’t guarantee stopping transmission of the virus but focus on reducing serious cases and deaths.
“I took her to clinics and hospitals but the hair loss is still getting worse. Doctors cannot identify what cause the hair loss.” The mother added.
The Phuket Public Health Office officials are now investigating the case but have cautioned the public after the story went viral not to jump to conclusions without proven evidence the hair loss was connected to the vaccine, as it could also be connected to other health conditions or even Covid-19.
