Phuket annual vegetarian festival to start next month

The annual vegetarian festival will be started next month for nine days.

A meeting was held yesterday (August 29th) led by Phuket Vice Governor Amnuay Pitsuwan and the Phuket Cultural Office Director Mrs. Chantana Sitipan.

Mr. Amnuay told The Phuket Express, “This year the festival will be held from September 26th to October 4th. The aim of the festival is to preserve our precious local traditions and support culture and tourism.”

Mrs. Chantana added, “Covid-19 measurements are still considered. Anyone who is joining in the ritual ceremonies MUST be double vaccinated. They MUST take an ATK test two days before the festival and take an ATK test every three days. Other people who join in the festival must wear face masks all the time.”

“Shops are not allowed to sell firecrackers. Fireworks and playing firecrackers are not allowed except firecrackers that will be used in the ceremony.” Amnuay concluded.
