The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts isolated heavy to very heavy rains in most parts of Thailand from Friday the 26th to Saturday the 27th due to the downgrading of tropical depression “MA-ON” over upper Laos and upper Myanmar.
More rains are forecast for upper Thailand and isolated heavy to very heavy rains are possible in the North, the Northeast, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East, and the South from August 26th at 5:00 PM. to August 27th at 5:00 PM.
In the Northern part, fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rains are forecasted in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Lamphun, Lampang, Uttaradit, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Sukhothai, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun with a minimum temperature of 23-26 °C and a maximum of 28-31 °C.
In the Northeastern part, fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Loei, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, and Surin with a minimum temperature of 23-25 °C and a maximum of 29-32 °C.
In Central Thailand, fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are predicted in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Lopburi, Saraburi, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Ayutthaya, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, and Bangkok and its vicinity with a minimum temperature of 23-24 °C and a maximum of 30-34 °C.
In the Eastern part, fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rains are forecasted in Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat with a minimum temperature of 22-24 °C and a maximum of 27-31 °C.
On the east coast of Southern Thailand, scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains
are expected in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Si Thammarat with a minimum temperature of 22-25 °C and a maximum of 32-33 °C. The wave height is about 1 meter and 1-2 meters in thundershowers.
On the west coast of Southern Thailand, fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun with a minimum temperature of 22-24 °C and a maximum of 29-33 °C.
From Phuket upwards, wave height is about 1-2 meters and about 2 meters in thundershowers.
From Krabi downwards, wave height is about 1 meter and 1-2 meters in thundershowers.
The Department also warns the public to beware of heavy to very heavy rains and their accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands throughout the period.
