Kata Beach in Phuket to be pushed as a ‘Surf City’

Phuket –

Tourism operators in Phuket are ready to push Kata Beach to be a ‘Surf City’.

Ms. Kanokkorn Pattarawanee, a committee member of the Phuket Tourism Association told The Phuket Express, “Kata Beach and Karon Beach are famous for tourists who like to play in the surf and enjoy a quiet atmosphere. Especially Kata Beach has been a paradise for surfers over the past 30 years. Even so, the number of tourists who have visited Kata Beach is still less than Patong. We expect more tourists in the high season at the end of the year.”

“Most of the surfers are foreigners but now more Thais are interested in surfing too. Kata Beach has been called the best beach for surfing in Phuket. The place is suitable for any level of surfing. Many surfing operators are at Kata Beach. Surfing events have been held for many years. These events are important to push Kata Beach to be the ‘Surf City’ at least twice a year.” Kanokkorn stated.

Mr. Komsan Sangkaew, a surf operator, told the Phuket Express, “Kata beach has beautiful sand with shadows from trees along the beach and many sizes of waves, Kata Beach is 17 kilometers from Phuket Town. There are many hotels, resorts, restaurants, and bars nearby.”

The Phuket Beach Festival 2022 will be held from August 23rd to August 28th, 2022 at Kata Beach to attract more tourists in the ‘Green Season (Monsoon season).
