At least 42 elderly people and three staffers infected with Covid-19 at Phuket Elder Care Center

Phuket –

At least 42 elderly people and three staffers have tested positive with Covid-19 at the Phuket Elder Care Center.

Today (July 28th) the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) Chief Dr. Kusak Kukiattikoon told the Phuket Express, “We have been informed from the center on July 27th. There are in total 75 elders with 29 staffers living and residing at the center.”

“Forty two elders and three staffers have tested positive with Covid-19. One of the elders was transferred to a local hospital while others have been quarantined at the center for treatment. However, all of them received at least triple doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.” Dr. Kusak stated.

The director of the Phuket Elder Care Development Center Ms. Puengpan Paojinda told the Phuket Express, “Most of the elders have personal health issues. They often go to the hospital for medical care which might have been where the current outbreak originated. Normally, people from the outside are not allowed to visit the center.”
