Armed bank robber at Rawai mall speeds away with 160,000 baht, police investigating

Police are hunting for an armed bank robber who robbed a shopping mall in Rawai before speeding away with 160,000 baht.

The Chalong Police was notified of the incident at 1:00 P.M. this afternoon (July 25th) at a bank in a shopping mall in Rawai, Mueang Phuket district.

Police arrived at the bank to find frantic and anxious bank staffers waiting for law enforcement. CCTV footage at the bank and the shopping mall shows the suspect came into the bank and used an item similar to a handgun to point at bank staffers. The suspect threatened staffers for money. Bank staffers told police the suspect sped away with 160,000 baht cash.

CCTV footage shows the suspect sped away on a red Honda motorbike on Wiset Road to Soi Suksan 1. His motorbike number plate was covered with a plastic bag.

Rawai Police are tracking down and hunting for the suspect.
