The Wichit Municipality is warning of traffic due to a tsunami evacuation drill that will be held this afternoon, July 20th.
The drill came after the Phuket Governor has ordered relevant officials to stay updated and keep a close eye on oceanic earthquake situations.
The Wichit Municipality says the evacuation drill is a ‘Table Top Exercise: TTX’ style via ZOOM system. The drill will include warning practices, evacuation drills, and shelter management.
The drill is aimed to prepare for any disaster to prevent loss of life and damages as well as to ensure safety for residents and tourists.
The evacuation route will be from Ao Yon Beach to shelter at the Wichit Municipality. The Wichit Municipality has warned of traffic on the route which will include siren vehicles and ambulances. The drill will start from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Meanwhile the Karon and the Phuket City Municipality will also hold tsunami evacuation drills this afternoon too.
