Krabi –
The famous Maya Bay in Krabi will be temporarily closed for two months for environmental recovery.
The Hat Noppharat Thara – Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park today (July 20th) has announced a reminder of the annual closure of the Maya Bay and the Loa Sama Bay in the national park area.
The temporary two months closure will be from August 1st to September 30th, 2022. Tourists will need to make other plans during this period as the Bay area will be strictly off-limits except to park staff and scientists.
National Park officials stated the annual closure is to allow effective tourism management following the climate in this season as well as it is time for nature and the environment to restore themselves.
The park has already made significant changes since the Covid19 pandemic to recover the natural environment, seeing a plethora of sea life return to the bay. No swimming was made as a new rule to preserve the marine environment of the popular bay.
