Red flags continue to be raised at many Phuket beaches due to strong waves

Patong –

Red flags have been raised on many Phuket beaches such as Patong Beach to warn beach goers and swimmers of strong winds and waves yesterday (July 12th). The red flags are expected to continue today, July 13th, in many areas.

The head of the Patong Beach lifeguards Mr. Somprasong Sangchard told the Phuket Express, “This followed an announcement from the Thai Meteorological Department, reporting that strong winds and waves are predicted in the Andaman Sea due to a strong southwest monsoon until July 14th, 2022.”

“We have continued to place red flags along Patong Beach to warn of no swimming areas. We are closely keeping an eye on weather warnings.” Somprasong added.

This coincides with a long five-day holiday in Thailand, notes The Phuket Express, that will likely disappoint many people hoping to cool off in the ocean. Today and tomorrow are religious holidays in the country which will also see alcohol sales banned and government offices closed.
