Royal Thai Navy in Phang Nga monitoring situation after small earthquakes detected off of Nicobar Island

Phuket –

  The Royal Thai Navy based in Phuket and Phang Nga is closely monitoring the situation after more than 30 small earthquakes off Nicobar Island were reported since yesterday (July 5th).

Navy officers who are stationed on Meang Island near the Similan National Park are closely monitoring and checking equipment and sea water levels. Navy officers told associated Thai media that they always practice Tsunami warning drills.

The Navy has ensured people along the Andaman coast that officers are monitoring the situation 24-hours a day. The tsunami warning system on Meang Island is 100 percent working, according to the Royal Thai Navy.
