52 baby sea turtles hatch and head back home in Phang Nga – VIDEO

Phang Nga-

Fifty-two baby green sea turtles have successfully hatched and headed to their ocean home in the Thai Mueang District, Phang Nga, north of Phuket, earlier this week (June 1st).

The head of the Khao Lampi–Hat Thai Mueang National Park Mr. Prarop Plangngan told The Phuket Express, “We have kept a close eye on multiple sea turtle nests in the area during this monsoon season. Heavy rain and strong waves might have damaged some sea turtle nests.”

“This particular nest of a mother sea turtle was found on April 11th, 2022.” Read more about our previous story HERE.

“We found that this nest was sinking yesterday and damaged. There were 61 sea turtle eggs in the nest. We were afraid that these eggs might have been damaged.” Prarop explained.

“We decided to dig up the nest to remove these eggs to another safe place.” Prarop stated.

“Surprisingly, 52 baby sea turtles were found inside the nest. Nine eggs were not hatched.” Prarop added.

The baby turtles took 51 days to hatch in total. We have helped them out before releasing them on the beach. They happily headed back into their home in the sea.” Prarop concluded.
