Phuket –
Two people have sustained injuries while three motorbikes were damaged after a sedan reportedly ran through a red light at an intersection in the Mueang Phuket District last night (May 25th).
Emergency responders were notified of the accident at about 8:00 P.M. at the Darasamut Intersection which is in front of Central Festival Phuket in the Wichit sub-district.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find two injured people lying in the middle of the intersection. They were taken to a local hospital. Three damaged motorbikes were found nearby. A damaged white sedan was found with the uninjured and unidentified female driver waiting at the scene for law enforcement.
One of the motorbike drivers, whose name was also not released by law enforcement, told a reporter at the scene “I was going through the traffic light after the light turned from red to green. The white sedan ran through the red light before crashing into three motorbikes.”
Phuket police are checking CCTV footage nearby to see if the sedan had indeed ran through the red light for further potential legal action. The sedan driver declined to speak to the press.
