Three boat crew members on an inflatable rescue boat were safely rescued from a capsized yacht in the middle of the sea between Koh Lanta Yai and Koh Ha of Krabi province this morning, May 22nd.
Officials from the Marine Enforcement Command Centre Region 3 (Thai-MECC) ordered an immediate rescue to local authorities under its command after being alerted of the sunken yacht around 6:00 AM.
Three crew members reportedly fled the boat and were floating on a small rescue boat in the stormy sea, located about 10 nautical miles from the Mu Koh Lanta National Park.
The 3rd Naval Area operation center launched a helicopter to join the search with local fishing and patrol boats. The sea and air search went on for four hours until the three survivors were spotted and safely rescued on board around 10:00 AM.
The survivors were not identified.
