Monsoon brings trash to Patong Beach, authorities address the issue

Patong –

The Patong Municipality clarified to the local media about trash found on Patong beach yesterday, Saturday (May 21st), stating it was brought by monsoon weather.

This morning, May 22nd, staffers from the Patong Municipality cleaned up trash along the Patong Beach. The Patong Municipality has mentioned to clarify that this happens during this monsoon season (Southwest Monsoons).

It is normal that lots of trash such as wood, plastic bottles, broken fishing nets, and glass have been brought to the beach by strong wind and waves, according to the Patong Municipality. This is called ‘Monsoon Garbage’. This monsoon garbage happens every year during this time.

Patong officials dismissed criticism that the trash was left by tourists posted from some on social media, however, did state that staff would continue to keep the beach clean and asked for all visitors to do their part by removing any trash they arrived with.
