UPDATED STORY:

A team of officials in Thalang led by the Thalang District Chief  Bancha Tanooin, Thalang Police, and others have continued their search yesterday (May 11th) in the Maikhao sub-district.

Thalang District Chief Bancha told The Phuket Express, “The tourist was identified as Ms. Barbara Elisabeth Monika Glag Lange, 76, a German national.”

“We believe that Ms. Barbara could not remember her way back to her hotel after taking a walk as she has Alzheimer’s disease, which can affect one’s recollection and memory amongst other health complications.” Chief Bancha stated.

“We were notified by her relatives that Ms. Barbara was missing from her hotel. The last person who believes they talked with her before she had gone missing told us that Barbara stated she was going for a walk to a house on a mountain.” Chief Bancha concluded.

It was not immediately clear who this person was or how or why Barbara, with Alzheimer’s, had gone for a walk alone in a foreign location. Additionally, this wasn’t the first incident as Barbara had also gone reportedly missing just days before the recent disappearance but had been quickly found at that time.

The search for Barbara continues today and is centered in the Mai Khao area.

Anyone who sees her or has information please contact 062-8808112 for the Tourists Assistance Center or 084-079-6279 Mr. Wichai. She is pictured below in an undated photo.
