Patong, Phuket –
Patong and tourism cities including Pattaya need ‘special zoning’ with nightlife venues open until 4 AM but nightlife business operators need to pay more tax, according to ‘Prab Keesin’, a prominent Patong businessman.
Preechavude ‘Prab Keesin’ is the Chairman of the Pisona Group, Chief of the Patong Development Foundation, and a former advisor to president of the Patong Entertainment Business Association (PEBA).

Prab told the Phuket Express, “I am glad that Big Joke is going to officially discuss with Phuket officials and the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, about legally extending restaurants’ closing time and drinking hours.”

“However what we really want to see is special zoning for famous tourist cities such as Patong (in Phuket), Pattaya (in Chonburi) or Sukhumvit, Thonglor, and Khaosan Road (in Bangkok).
“These are important tourism areas where lots of foreign tourists have visited. We need these areas to be a special zone which has different legal closing times for nightlife venues.”
“What most business operators want is not to open venues until morning but we want some easing for tourists to have more time to enjoy their nightlife. We want to make tourists satisfied with their journey in coming to Patong and Thailand.”
“There has been a lot of research and analysis about opening entertainment venues until 4:00 A.M., this will be good for the economy, communities, and environment. It is better if laws can be amended. Entertainment venues can make a lot of money from 1:00 A.M. to 3:00 A.M..”
“However, nightlife operators in the special zones must pay more tax too as they will get more benefits. We have to admit that we have caused some negative effects on local communities. The most important things to improve tourism are safety and service developments.”
Meanwhile, a group of nightlife entertainment venue operators has submitted a proposal letter to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha to legally allow their businesses to be reopened, primarily in ”blue zone” areas geared to tourism like Phuket and Pattaya, to help promote tourism from June 1st onwards.
