Large storms will hit all regions over this weekend, Thai Meteorological Department warns

The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning today, May 7th, for an approaching large storm that will likely be hitting 53 provinces across the nation.  

Due to the announcement, the southeasterly winds over the Gulf and the South will strengthen, causing heavy or very heavy rain in certain areas in the next 24 hours while the North, Northeast, Central, and East, including Bangkok and its vicinities, will also encounter increasing rain in around 60-70% of the areas. 

The affected areas are as follows:

North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun will see thunderstorms. The highest and lowest temperatures are 31-36 degrees and 22-25 degrees, respectively.

Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, and Surin will also see hot and dim weather during the day. The highest and lowest temperatures are 31-33 degrees and 23-25 degrees.

Central: Uthai Thani, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, and Nakhon Pathom. The highest and lowest temperatures are  32-36 degrees and 23-27 degrees.

East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat. The highest and lowest temperatures are  33-35 degrees and 24-25 degrees. The southeasterly winds are 15-35 km/hr. Wave height 1-2 meters and 2 meters offshore.

Southeast: Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat. The highest and lowest temperatures are 28-34 degrees and 23-25 degrees. The southerly winds are 15-35 km/hr and wave height is 1-2 meters above Surat Thani. The southeasterly 15-30 km/hr and wave height 1 meter below Nakhon Si Thammarat.     

Southwest: Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun. The highest and lowest temperatures are 30-35 degrees and 24-26 degrees. The southern winds are 20-35 km/hr. Wave height 2 meters and 2 meters offshore.

Bangkok and the vicinity: The highest and lowest temperatures are 33-36 degrees and 26-27 degrees.
