Phuket raid nets 50 million baht in 100,000 counterfeit brand name goods

  More than 100,000 items of counterfeit brand-name goods were seized in Phuket with a value of more than 50 million baht yesterday, April 18th, 2022.

The Department of Intellectual Property reports they raided a warehouse and three houses  in Kathu district and Phuket City throughout the afternoon of Monday, April 18th, following tips from concerned citizens.

More than 100,000 items of counterfeit high-profile brand name goods were seized with a value of more than 50 million baht, according to officials familiar with the investigation who spoke with The Phuket Express.

The raid came after officials received a tip-off that counterfeit goods were being sold on social media. They continued their investigation which led to the raid and the arrest of the alleged owners of the warehouses.

The owners of the warehouses, whose names were not given by officials to The Phuket Express, are facing charges of illegal possession of counterfeit goods for selling.
